We are thrilled to share some heartfelt reflections and a video from our recent fundraising trek to Machu Picchu, courtesy of Radiating Hope Board Member Ashley Cogswell.
Ashley’s Reflection:
✨ "There is something special that happens when you’re out on the trail for several days… completely disconnected from life at home, unplugged, physically tapped. Almost meditative, focusing on your next steps and breath. There becomes time for soul searching, and connecting to your highest self. The people you share your steps with get to be the recipients of all the ideas and possibilities floating around in your mind. Special bonds and connections are made. Although it is physically demanding, the mental clarity after a trek is the gift you didn’t see coming. The struggles in the moment, and wondering why you signed up for this AGAIN, are quickly replaced with hiking amnesia and the possibility that anything could happen ✨💫
This was a memorable one. We were the only group out on the trail, with only the family farmers that still live and work on the land. It felt like it could have been a thousand years ago and we had been dropped off in the center of it all. A special magic. The fact that I got to finally share a hike, this hike, with my sister made it all the more magical. 💗🥰
Thank you to Claudio Maqque Valdez for touring us through these timeless lands, with your endless knowledge and humor, and Roger Amesquita, our mighty shadow, for keeping us in “the slow group” safe and always cared for. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️"
