Lacey Tucker's story

Lacy Tucker | Everest Base Camp Trek 2017

On September 20, 2017, Radiating Hope climbers embarked on a journey to Everest Base Camp, honoring those who have battled cancer. For Lacy Tucker, this trek was deeply personal.

Lacy’s Story:

Lacy joined the trek to honor her father, who passed away from lung cancer in 2015. Invited by her dad's radiation oncologist, Larry Doherty, Lacy brought her dad's prayer flag on this meaningful journey. "The prayer flag was hope for my dad. It felt like he could continue to live on through these flags," Lacy shared.

The Trek:

During the trek, Lacy felt a unique bond with her father. "I felt like my dad was with me because I had the prayer flag in my backpack," she recalled. The journey to Everest Base Camp was both a physical and emotional challenge, symbolizing the hopes and legacies of those fighting cancer.

Access to Radiation Treatment:

"My dad was able to get six more months of life from radiation treatment. It's something everyone should have access to," Lacy emphasized. Radiating Hope aims to bring advanced cancer care to regions that need it most.
