Don Flint | Everest Base Camp Trek 2017
On September 20, 2017, Don Flint, a thyroid cancer survivor, trekked with Radiating Hope to the base camp of Mt. Everest. Here is his inspiring story.
Don’s Story:
About two years ago, Don was diagnosed with papillary and follicular thyroid cancer. After having his thyroid removed and undergoing radiation treatment, Don was invited by Radiating Hope co-founder, Brandon Fisher, to join the cancer trek to Everest Base Camp.
Don shared, "I'm trekking for quite a few people, but most importantly for an eight-year-old boy, Jackson Perkins, who is battling cancer. I have his flag right here with me."
The Trek:
Initially excited about the adventure, Don quickly connected with Radiating Hope's mission. "Cancer affects so many people. Radiating Hope is bringing cancer treatment to developing countries like Nepal. They only have ten machines in Kathmandu to help individuals," he explained.
Supporting Cancer Treatment:
"Radiating Hope is a wonderful foundation helping developing countries with cancer treatment. Every little bit we can generate helps out tremendously," Don emphasized.
